UPDATE: The window for accepting submissions has been extended a further two weeks. The submission deadline is now May 23.   As promised, here are the details for the "Art & Fiction Contest II", good luck! That’s right, NGNG has geared up for another creative contest open to one and all, from the greenest of rookies to the most barnacled of the faithful! We had an excellent series of entries last month, but there’s no doubt that even more fantastic submissions await as well as further prizes! The submission period will be two weeks this time around, giving you even more time to polish those entries. So without further ado; once more into the breach MechWarriors! Submission Beginning Date: April 24, 2012 Submission Ending Date: May 23, 2012 Fiction Contest - The Basics: Write an original work of fiction based in the BattleTech universe. It can be anything, from blow-by-blow accounts of ‘mech combat, to a series of diary entries, to drunken bar conversations -- let your imagination run wild! Email us your entry (details below), and we’ll post it to the NGNG website where the judging will take place. Fiction Contest - The Rules: -The story must take place before the year 3050. -The story must be at least 1,000 words and no more than 4,000. -The story must not stray from official canon. If you want to involve established units or characters, do your research. [A member of the Northwind Highlanders getting involved in a story set on a Capellan world would make sense; the Draconis Combine invading the Free Worlds League would not.] -No racism or sexism. No excessive profanity. No overtly pornographic material. Try and keep the story Rated-R or less. - Plagiarism, either from official canon or existing fan fiction is grounds for immediate disqualification and possible banning from future contests. Art Contest - The Basics: Create an original work of art depicting a battlemech! Use any medium and any setting you'd like! Email us your entry (details below), and your entry will be included in a gallery where it will be voted on. Art Contest - The Rules: -Your art entry can be created with any medium you can imagine, but you must be able to submit it in an image format, whether that is a .jpeg, .png, or even an animated gif. -The dimensions of the image must be at least 1280x800. -The work must be centered around a battlemech or battlemechs. -The work must depict canon ‘mechs in service during or before the year 3049. [hint: that includes Clan and Star League era ‘mechs] - Plagiarism, either from official artwork or fan art is grounds for immediate disqualification and possible banning from future contests. -Do I really need to say ‘no pornography’? Well…Ew. No pornography. What we need from you before submission: All candidates must have an active Steam account before they submit their entry (This is so you can collect your prize, if you should win). Candidates must also join the NGNG Contest Steam group before submission. Each candidate will include their Steam name and MWO forum name with their submission. Any entries without this information will be discarded. Submission Guidelines: Submit your work via email to both people below: -Phil: seanlang@nogutsnogalaxy.net -Andrew: onearmdude@yahoo.com Include in the subject line: -NGNG Fiction or Art Contest [depending on which contest you are entering] -Your MWO forum name -The title of your entry -The current date Please do not forget to attach your entry! Only email submissions once, additional entries will be discarded/ignored. Disclaimer and other legal stuff: Once again, candidates must have a Steam account in order to claim their prize(s). This contest is not affiliated in any way with STEAM. Prizes may contain mature content, discretion is advised.
